The greatest site in all the land!

I know you’ve all heard that saying that “All good things must come to an end” and that is definitely how I am feeling in this situation. I am in an Journalism class that being honest, I never thought I would enjoy this much. This is a summer session so it is much shorter than a regular class that I would take during a semester, but our professor basically crammed all that he would teach a class in 4 months, into 3 weeks! We go out with a camera and cover stories and news that people want to see and hear about and then we edit the videos in class and post them online. It has been an amazing experience so far and I have learned a ton from this class. Sad to say that Friday is our last day!!!!!!! But hey, I am just going to enjoy these next few days and then say my goodbyes ! 😥

Today was a busy one for me, but it ran pretty smoothly. I woke up and went to class this morning around 10  (thanks professor for giving us that extra hour). After class I went to go get breakfast and shopping at Krogers and then took a nap. We had Yoga at 4 today, and it’s pretty rough at the beginning because me and my team are definitely not the most flexible people! I am getting better though, my “Downward Facing Dog” is on point now lol.

After yoga we had pickup scheduled but me and another teammate had to leave early to go get ready for an event that we agreed to go to. Got all dressed up and headed out but of course in our luck we got lost. I’ll give an F+ to the iPhone navigation system in that situation, we had to stop and ask people for directions on two occassions. But we finally made it to the event and it was awesome. We basically did this charity for disabled and mentally challenged people and we helped to auction off prizes to help raise money for their programs! We auctioned off a road trip with my team as we traveled to go play a game this upcoming season and I am very proud to say that it sold for close to $1000!! The fact that we were able to raise that much money, on top of all the other things we helped to auction was amazing. It made my day!

Every person goes through temptations through each and every day. It’s just up to you how you let them effect you. Not all temptations are bad, but it’s obvious that the majority of them are. There are many temptations that I deal with on a day-to-day basis; Like not wanting to go to a 8am class, or not wanting to wake up at 5:40am to get ready for workouts. But I understand the bigger picture behind those two. Getting bigger, faster, and stronger, to get better for the season and hitting the books hard to make sure my grades are up are two priorities for me. I understand that not everyone else has the same goals as me. And the fact that I am a Division I athlete at a large-scale school, makes everything I do wrong 10x worse. If a regular student misses class, nobody notices, but if I miss class or act out, everyone notices and everyone cares. It took me a while to understand it but I have realized that whether or not I want to accept it, I do have influence and my actions do have repercussions.

From that I do pay a lot more attention to my actions especially out in public. Also on my social networks such as tweets or pictures posted. It it SOOO tempting to tweet when I’m upset or when something crazy happens. But the chances of somebody taking it wrong, or that one picture shedding bad light on the program is something that I definitely don’t want.

A quote that I always remember is “A person’s reputation can take many years to build, and a split second to ruin down.” -Warren Buffett

Keep that in mind the next time you think of doing something crazy

Be blessed!

Chill Friday …

Today was a pretty chill day. The best part about it is that I went to sleep last night and didn’t have to worry about setting an alarm clock to wake me at all!! It was amazing. We had a very tough workout Thursday and I was feeling the effects of it this morning so I refused to get out the bed until I had to. I lounged around, watched a couple movies on TV and then got ready to go to pickup at 330. We played some 3 on 3 because we’re missing a few people but we make it work regardless. If anybody is any good on the court [and I mean really good :)] hit us up to come hoop with us! We’d love to hand you a L! lol

Have a great night!

MTV Cribs Video

Yesterday we showed our new video in class. We did a MTV Cribs edition of news and basically showed a inside look of how us women’s basketball players live. We took a more funny approach towards the end where we did a little clip of Room Raiders as we barged into our teammate Sheronne’s room. She was caught completely off guard and that element of suprise made a really funny at the end of our video.

Feel free to go watch it and to share it on your pages!

Have a blessed day 🙂

A night in…

Today has been a very long day. Waking up at 6 am for 6:45am workouts, then a three hour class from 9-12 is rough. I had a great little individual workout with our former player Candyce Bingham and a few of my teammates and then we went up to Hoops Academy to help promote our Summer Camp for the kids this summer. You can check those dates on and click on women’s basketball camp but I believe its June 4-10th.

After all the grind of the day I usually try to find something fun to do later for entertainment. Mines tonight is watching the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Lakers game!! It has been a very entertaining one. I have been a die hard Lakers Fan ever since I can remember and I have been a Durant fan ever since his freshman year at Texas. So as you can see I am pretty torn in deciding who I want to win the series but so far, it’s not looking too good for my Lakers!!

We’ll see how the rest turns out!!

I miss my Android!

I have been having a android phone for the last three and a half years now and  I always had the newest one that came out. Me and one of my teammates would always make sure we had the coldest phone with the best features and the biggest screen or keyboard. I finally got  comfortable with the Sprint Evo, it was and still is one of the best and most popular ones out. It was very nice and I had it personally customized so that nobody else’s could ever look like mines. It was the best.

Then I got pressured into joining #TeamiPhone because my whole team was getting them. So I finally bought one and I kind of hate it. My phone looks exactly like everyone else’s and it sucks. I am really considering switching back very soon to my beloved Evo. If I do, ill be sure to let you guys know! J
